An Alcohol Addicted Gentleman Registers For Rehabilitation, Receives Alcohol Detox and Treatment for His Alcoholism and His Depression, and Begins to Enhance His Relationship With His Wife
Barry used to brag to his drinking friends how he could stay employed at a fulltime job and get inebriated nearly every night. Regrettably, after involving himself in this unhealthy lifestyle for approximately four years, he began to observe different alcohol related issues.
Barry Starts to Notice a Variety of Alcohol Related Issues
For example, he had a real difficult time getting up for work because he felt so exhausted when he awoke. Not only this, but most mornings Barry suffered from a dreadful hangover. It was clear that the combination of his hangovers and his lack of energy did not make it easy for him to get up and feel energized to go to work. To make things more difficult, around a week ago he received his third drunk driving arrest in the past year-and-a-half.
To complicate things further, at work his last two work assessments were less than acceptable. And finally, his two-and-a-half-year marriage with his wife had declined due to his depression, angry outbursts, financial difficulties, and his lack of patience.
Though Barry was only twenty-three years old, he honestly began looking like he was in his mid forties. Regrettably, this is what abusive and hazardous drinking can do to an individual. And in all candor he grasped the fact that he was suffering from the negative outcomes of alcohol abuse or alcoholism and that he was too young to squander his life to hazardous and careless drinking. So at first he tried to drink in moderation. Unfortunately, he soon found out that he lost all control after consuming his first drink. Stated differently, after his first drink he invariably proceeded to get smashed. Since this was a situation that was repeated every time he went to a bar to drink, this obviously disturbed him a great deal. In truth, he began to wonder if he was exhibiting some of the signs of alcoholism and alcohol abuse.
Barry Makes up His Mind To Make an Appointment to See his Healthcare Practitioner
After mentioning his excessive alcohol consumption and his hazardous drinking with his wife, he eventually made up his mind to make an appointment to see his family doctor. When Barry saw his physician, he openly declared that he has been abusing alcohol, that he may be exhibiting alcoholic signs, and that he wants to abstain from drinking. He said that drinking responsibly and in moderation doesn’t work well for him and, consequently, he wants to learn how he can create an alcohol-free lifestyle.
Barry also told his healthcare professional about his depression and how this mental health problem was negatively influencing his relationship with his wife. His doctor referred Barry to Doctor Mandell, an alcohol and drug addiction psychiatrist, who motivated Barry to register in an alcohol and drug rehabilitation clinic as an in-patient for alcohol detoxification and alcohol rehab. Fortunately, Barry would also be able to get medical treatment for his depression at this treatment clinic.
Refraining From Drinking Was the Best Decision Barry Had Ever Made
After three months of intensive treatment intensive rehabilitation, Barry left the residential rehab clinic and continued his recovery via going to local Alcoholics Anonymous meetings and via outpatient counseling. Encouraged to change his life in a more positive way, Barry bought some vitamins at a health store and a cookbook. He then joined a fitness center and started working out two or three times per week. Within four months Barry was a new individual. He was eating nutritious meals, he wasn’t depressed anymore, he now looked younger than he was, he was in shape, and most significant of all, he remained sober for numerous months. He also became more patient, he didn’t resort to angry outbursts, and he became a more loving person in his relationship with his wife. In a word, refraining from drinking was the best decision Barry had ever made.
