Dry Skin

A low sebum secretion is to blame for dry skin. Sensitivity and a dull look often accompany dryness, together with the formation of some tiny expression lines in the corner of the eyes and around the mouth. Dry skin has a poor capacity to retain moisture, it gives one the feeling of too tight on the bones, and it is most of the time described as dehydrated. The most important factors that accelerate skin dryness and make the skin flake and chap are atmospheric conditions.

There are several causes or explanations for skin dryness: genetic predisposition should be counted here first. This means that a person inherits the skin’s tendency to dry. Then, too much sun exposure, dehydration, weather conditions like wind and cold, skin disease such as psoriasis and eczema, all represent other elements behind the inconvenience. Various ailments like diabetes or thyroid dysfunctions as well as medications could impair the health of the skin and make it lose moisture and get dry.

Dry skin is further explained by a diet poor in vitamins, essential nutrients and minerals. The remedies will include the intense moisturizing of the skin, the adequate body hydration as well as a higher care in relation to diet. Moisturizers represent a necessity for dry skin. It all starts with how you clean your face: don’t use hot tap water; it’s better to spray some fresh mineral water and then clean the skin again with a moisturizer. The face cream and the body lotion that you apply, have to be greasy enough to make the skin moist and soft.

Many people do not know how to care for their skin and make poor choices in terms of skincare products. For example, it is a problem if you forget to check the neutral pH of the cleanser. Alkaline soaps aggravate dry skin condition by reducing all the natural oils and thus triggering a tissue sensitivity. Therefore, avoid detergent-based products and chemicals, because skin dryness will only get worse and even open the door to dermatological ailments.

Dry skin has to be protected against sun exposure; if you still feel like going sunbathing, make sure to use a sunscreen with a high ultraviolet protection factor. Because of skin dryness, the sun will accelerate the aging process, making you look older and more wrinkled. By working to preserve your skin moist and fresh, you manage to stay younger. Besides moisturizing, all sorts of cleansers, lotions and homemade beauty masks can be used to render your skin the right elasticity.
