Home Tanning

A lot of people go to spray tan salons as their tan or as a tanning solution, but you can do it at home as well. Did you know?
If you want to create a fake tan without paying too much money on a salon session, here are a few things you should know about how to use a home spray tan with maximum of results. Many people choose this variant to booth tanning because of the costs, however, the opinions are shared about which version is the best: DIY tanning or machine tanning. But, we’ll only discuss the tanning option available for home use.

The application of the home spray tan should follow a careful skin preparation. You should shower, exfoliate the skin, shave and dry without applying any moisturizer whatsoever. Why is exfoliation necessary? Well, the coloring agents act only on the superficial dead skin layer on top of the dermis, and the resistance of the tan depends on the thickness or the thinness of this very layer. The home spray tan option allows one to choose from lots of products from famous skincare product manufacturers.

However, you should be aware of the fact that a home spray tan from Lancome will be more expensive than a no-name product, to give just an example. The bronze look is the main feature that distinguishes a good home spray tan from a low quality one. Then, an important aspect that you should bear in mind is that color builds in time, at least for the first application. Little active substance should be used at the very beginning, the first tan will hence be a gentle brown.

After you apply the home spray tan, allow it to dry before getting dressed and avoid contact with water for the next five hours. Do not apply the home spray tan before going to the gym for instance, because intense perspiration may cause streaking. The setting of the color depends on total skin dryness. If you want to make the tan last longer, use warm water and mild soap when showering. Then, rubbing the skin too vigurously with the towel will also cause exfoliation and cause the color to wear off.

Try to use loose clothes on the day you tan. You’ll also see that for the first showers, the hands, the joints and the face will give away more color. Moreover, in case you get some darker skin areas that make you look blotchy, you can rub lemon juice in the skin to reduce the tan intensity.
