Natural Ways to Induce Labor

Is it possible to induce labor yourself?  This is one of those questions that pregnant ladies are eager to know the answer to.  Once you have reached full term it’s a making a guess game as to when your bundle of joy will arrive.  Most expectant ladies feel that their baby has a mind of his or her own when it comes to selecting the time of arrival.  If you’re reaching and passing your due date and you’re still carrying your baby there are things you can do at home that can help stimulate labor to start.

Cumin tea is one of the ways to induce labor naturally that is often used in several countries around the world.  Cumin is spicy and it fits into the concept that spicy foods bring on contractions.  If you want to brew a cup of this strong tea just add a large spoon of cumin seed to boiling water.  Let it steep a minute or two and then add a bit of sugar or honey to help take the edge off the cumin. Drink this several times throughout the day.  It can cause indigestion though so be sure not to drink two cups too near together.

Black and Blue Cohosh are the 2 common methods to induce labor that are preferred.  Black Cohosh is understood to be in a position to cause bleeding.  Heavy blood loss is common in the event that the mother needs a C-section and this can lead to transfusions.  Blue Cohosh does not cause excessive bleeding but it can negatively affect the baby’s heart.  This is precisely why such herbal products will need you to be under steady clinical supervision.

Relaxing to reduce muscle strain is also crucial, because strain and stress can get in the way of your labor. Meditation and visualization are fantastic methods not only to chill, but also to get labor started.  Your imagination and subconscious are powerful tools.  By thinking of your favourite food you begin to feel hungry or by imagining something scary you become scared.  Likewise, focusing your mind on labor helps to bring it on and progress with it.

Pregnancy acupressure has been shown to be effective and safe and should be used by a pregnant lady when her pregnancy has reached its cutoff date.  Due to its proved results, this has become widely used by doctors, midwives and other pregnancy executives as a way in inducing labor.
