Self Tanning Spray
Trendy and popular, the tanned look makes people feel fashionable and increases their self-confidence. Sun bathing is less and less advisable because of the number increase of the skin cancer cases, but alternatives have appeared to it. Self tanning spray together with creams, lotions and gels designed for home tanning are widely available. Although the most advanced application is the use of a tanning machine or booth, going to a salon for a refreshening of the tan is not an affordable option for everybody. The do-it-yourself solutions thus become the most practical and accessible.
A self tanning spray is a cosmetic product usually containing DHA that can be applied at home as a sunless tanning solution. DHA triggers a chemical reaction with the amino acids in the skin and makes the top skin layer brown. The effect of a self tanning spray lasts for around six or eight days but harsh soap and frequent bathing will wear the tan off sooner. Self tanning has a lot of challenges, and although you save more money, you’ll need more time to apply the tan.
A self tanning spray can hardly provide an even tan. The coloring solution will be atomized in a thin film but you should be careful not to overlap too much. Overlapping leads to darker tan shades on certain body areas. Then, a disadvantage of the self tanning spray is that you may need another person’s help for the process: the back for instance is very difficult to spray unless there is someone to assist you. The back, the nape and the bottom will cause most of the troubles. Ask a friend to apply the tanner for you: it will make the process a lot simpler.
Be careful to protect the eyes, the lips, the ears and other delicate body parts. It is also possible to stain your nails and palms when using a self tanning spray. Wipe the nails and the palms with wet wipes before the tanning agent gets dry. Finally, do not spray too much substance because the result may be an unnatural orange glow or an uneven tan. Although very commonly used self tanning spray variants are a lower quality solution as compared to the tanning booth.
