Setting The Trends By Bucking The Trends

In fashion, just like anything else, there are those who follow and there are those who lead. When black pumps are back in fashion, the girl who chooses to wear brown boots becomes the next trend setter – if she does it right.

Just doing something different isn’t the key, either. There’s the matter of attitude or confidence, too. The trendsetter who wears brown hiking boots when everyone else is wearing black heels isn’t wearing the boots because she doesn’t know any better. On the contrary, she knows exactly what she’s doing.

The same girl will be the one who was using hobo handbags when the others were carrying clutches. When they see her with a hobo, they follow suit. Her secret is charisma, what just what is that, anyway?

It’s simplistic to say that she’s the most beautiful girl in town. If you look at the top supermodels of the past couple of decades, the ones who made the most impact were not the most stunning looking women, but the least. What makes them attractive is their attitude. A gap toothed model doesn’t hide her teeth or run to the dentist to get them fixed, she shows them off.

The reason why these models and other women like them are the ones we follow probably is connected with the fact that we all have flaws, but are ashamed of them. There is something liberating about these models. They tell us it’s okay to just be ourselves and not worry about what everybody else thinks.

When a famous model endorses a product, other women flock to purchase the product because they want to be like her. A dab of the perfume she endorses will weave its magic spell and make them bold and original as well. Of course, it’s all an illusion, but that’s exactly what fashion is all about.

Did you know that the word glamor comes from a word that used to mean, ‘magic spell?’ When you think about it, that’s what fashion is: magic. The sorceress waves her wand and suddenly every woman in the world is wearing shirts for girls. She waves it again and they are wearing frilly blouses.

Many people have studied the magic of charisma, but nobody has really come up with an adequate explanation for it. The gap toothed model looks glamorous because of the gap between her teeth. Another girl, equally attractive, just seems to have a gap. If somebody could package charisma and sell it, they would become very rich indeed.
