Skin Eczema

Skin eczema is a dermatological condition that affects almost all of us at some time in our lives. This ailment represents a form of dermatitis, or inflammation of the epidermis/skin. Many other persistent dermatological conditions are often called eczema although they may be diagnosed otherwise. These conditions include the following forms of manifestation: skin dryness with repeated rash symptoms, redness and inflammation, crusts and even cracks formation, flaking, oozing or even bleeding of the tissues. Not very often, manifestations like skin discoloration caused by some of the healed lesions might occur sometimes accompanied by scarring.

Skin eczema can appear with all age groups. It affects adults and children alike; yet babies are the most often exposed to it. Unfortunately what exactly causes this condition is still not known. What researchers have discovered is that this disease contains a genetics-related aspect that cannot be denied. Therefore, one may develop eczema if there is another family member who suffers from it.

Just as the causes for skin eczema are still unknown, so is the case of the cure for it. In the absence of a remedy, there are only solutions to alleviate symptoms and keep the disease under control. Once diagnosed with eczema, the treatment follows the exact identification of the typology. The treatment is focused on the gravity of the condition and on the patient’s medical history. The medicines that doctors usually recommend in eczema cases are meant to reduce the itching, limit the inflammation of the skin, remove the lesions and, in case of infections, clear them up. Besides, in case a certain treatment proves insufficient, it can be backed up by some alternative remedies.

In addition to the doctor’s prescribed medicines, the patient may influence positively the evolution of the disease or act in the direction of prevention. Two things you can do is to keep the skin moisturized and avoid scratching. Staying away from house cleaning products which contain a lot of irritant components will definitely help. Keep dust away from the living environment. It is also advisable to pay attention to the types of clothes and fabric we use regularly (cotton is the best choice). Although the condition responds to the treatment, moisturizing should not be neglected. Thus, you can prevent future skin eczema outbreaks or keep the problem under control if you are still fighting it.
