Wet and Dry Mineral Foundation
Many people would like to use mineral foundation. However, they do not want to forego the coverage that their current liquid foundation provides. They do not realize that you can use mineral foundation in wet or dry form. There are benefits to both methods. You need to know how to wear mineral foundation wet and dry. This will help you get the best results for any skin condition on any day.
You will always use the horsehair brush that came with the foundation to apply the foundation. You will use this brush whether you are applying the foundation wet or dry. Just keep the brush very clean so that you can reuse it daily.
When you use mineral foundation dry, you get very light coverage. This does not mean that blemishes or irregularities will show through. It does mean that foundation will feel very light on your face. However, you can still layer on the mineral powder foundation to camouflage lines, wrinkles and irregularities.
Here are some of the benefits that you get from using mineral foundation as dry powder:
* It uses light to camouflage lines, wrinkles and creases. This minimizes evidence of aging. The mica reflects a bit better when applied dry rather than wet.
* It feels as if you have no makeup on. The powder will help your skin look smooth and natural.
* You can sleep in dry mineral foundation. Of course it is always better to remove makeup. Dry mineral foundation does not block your pores though and will not cause the kind of aging and damage that other liquid foundations can.
To apply mineral foundation dry, simply swirl the horsehair brush in the powder. Tap the excess powder foundation off the brush. Apply the powder to your face while using a circular motion. Apply as many layers as you want. Your end result will be bright and light. You can apply additional cosmetics like eyeshadow, blush or bronzer over the mineral foundation if you like.
Some people’s preference is to use mineral foundation wet. They feel that wet mineral foundation gives them better coverage. This is mostly a personal opinion though, since mineral foundation covers effectively both ways. Mineral foundation, when used wet, can give you a more “made up” look that people find glamorous. Of course this look may be less natural, but people think it looks more professional. It also provides a great palate for additional makeup. The first thing to do when applying mineral foundation is dip the brush in the dry powder. Tap it into your palm or the lid of the mineral foundation. Never get the entire container of mineral foundation wet at once. Swirl the foundation around with the damp brush. This will cause the liquid mineral foundation to stick to the brush. Smooth it on with your fingers if you like.
Of course you can wear your mineral foundation wet or dry. You will definitely love the natural look and the response of your skin to mineral foundation.
